Broadlands Residents for BRMC is organized by residents of Broadlands to demonstrate strong public support for the Broadlands Regional Medical Center (BRMC). BRMC is a full service 164 bed hospital being built on 58 acres of commercial property adjacent to The Greenway (Rt. 267), Belmont Ridge Rd. and Broadlands Blvd. The Virginia Health Commissioner has issued a Certificate of Public Need (COPN) certifying that there is a need for hospital and that Broadlands is the right location to build it.

More Than 50% of Residents Leave Loudoun for Healthcare
Loudoun County was served well for decades by Loudoun Hospital when our population was small. However, dramatic recent population growth has changed that and today more than 50% of Loudoun residents leave the county for healthcare. Today Loudoun has less hospital beds and physicians per thousand residents than any other county in Northern Virginia. Loudoun also lacks many specialists and residents must travel long distances often in bad traffic to see their doctor. [Read more]
Broadlands is the Right Location Because It Is Central To Existing Population
Broadlands is centrally located in the eastern part of Loudoun County where the majority of residents are located. The hospital is located next to a major highway and is easily accessible. Emergency call statistics clearly show that the Greenway corridor has twice as many emergency calls as the Route 50 corridor. Healthcare should be located where it can best serve the majority of residents.
BRMC Is Better for Our Community Than By-Right Development
The BRMC hospital is preferable to by-right development which could be far more intrusive and would not require public input. We compared the hospital site plan with a by-right office park. The office buildings would be within 100 feet of Broadlands Blvd. and virtually the entire site would be buildings or parking with 24 hour lighting. [See the comparison]
Competition will improve healthcare and bring much needed services and specialists to Loudoun.
The threat of BRMC has already been the cause for major improvements by pushing Loudoun Hospital to merge with Inova who invested $200 million to improve the hospital. Loudoun is seriously lacking in specialists and many residents have to travel to DC or Baltimore to get the care they need for their families. Competition will help to bring specialists and better care to our community. BRMC has already announced a partnership with Children’s Hospital in Washington to bring specialty pediatric care to BRMC.
